Updating the Brightmetrics Agent

Required Permission Level: Administrator

We periodically update the Brightmetrics agent with bug fixes and performance improvements, so it is important to stay up to date.  
 
The Brightmetrics agent service normally updates itself automatically.  If automatic updates have been disabled intentionally, for example by disabling the BrightmetricsUpdater service, you can install the latest version from the link below.  
 
*NOTE: Please check your version prior to updating.  If your agent is v2, you'll need to uninstall it and then reinstall to get v3.*
 

Current Agent Build:  v3.5

 

Checking your agent version

To see which version of the agent you're on perform the following steps:

Step 1. Click on the Administrator Tools page

Step 2. Click on the Agent tab

Step 3. See the Agent Version for all agents

Updating your agent to the latest version:

If your agent is v2, you'll need to uninstall it and then reinstall to get v3.

If you would like the agent to stay up to date automatically:
 
  • Ensure the BrightmetricsUpdater service is installed, enabled, and running
  • Make sure the updater and the agent have full connectivity to Brightmetrics servers (see our article here for what internet access does the agent need)
  • Ensure no content filter is blocking downloads of the update installer
  • Ensure anti-virus software is not preventing the BrightmetricsUpdater service from launching the update installer

Once your agent is up to date, there may be additional updates needed.  It's also important to ensure your server supports TLS 1.2 in order for the Brightmetrics agent to run correctly.  Our article found here explains .Net and TLS requirements.

  • I went to the Admin Tools, I have, Dashboards, Reports, Schedules,Company settings, Data customization and Audit. I do not have what you are showing in the directions. Please help me find what version I have.
